Bhaskar Woman of the Year Awards

1. What is the Bhaskar Woman of the Year Awards?

Bhaskar Woman of the Year Award is an initiative of Dainik Bhaskar Group to recognize and felicitate the efforts of real woman who through their self belief and determination have made substantial difference / contribution to the people/society and inspired the lives of people around them. Their character, selflessness and determination makes them pride and joy of the society.

2. What are the categories of Bhaskar Woman of the year Award 2010?

The Bhaskar Woman of the Year Award seeks to recognize the efforts of Women in the following four areas:

  • Socio–cultural achievement– Women who have overcome socio–cultural difficulties and have challenged society / government / family against injustice, thus achieving a break–through. Eg– dowry, oppression, domestic violence, etc
  • Family Icon–Those who took good care of their families and managed to provide them with education, sense of safety, to live life with zeal and hope in the heart, against all odds. e.g., husband death, loss of job, joint family problems etc.
  • Social excellence–Those who are committed in pursuit of social justice, up-liftman of the downtrodden improving the quality of life, and helped in the development of the potential of each individual/ group and community in a society Eg; school for poor people, charity work etc.
  • Professional excellence–Those who have achieved professional excellence / business success. E.g. demonstrated success in typically male dominated areas, turned hobbies into successful businesses ventures, etc.

3. What are the eligibility criteria?

Only naturally born Indian woman currently residing in the states of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Gujarat and Punjab are eligible to apply. Applicant's age should be 18 years and above as on 28th February '2010.

4. Which city I can apply from?

Participant can apply from any of the cities in the states of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Gujarat and Punjab. The Participant should have a valid address proof of staying in the city, as mandated by the rules for participation. In case, a Participant has resided in multiple cities through the duration of her life, she should apply from the city where she has live the longest and/or where her efforts have made the substantial impact over the longest period of time.

5. By when will the application forms be available?

The form can be downloaded starting 3rd April, 2010 from the website – www.bhaskarevents.com. The forms will be available at identified Bhaskar offices (address mention in the rules and regulation). Further, the photocopy of the form can also be used for participating in these Awards.

6. Where can I find information on the nomination procedures?

You may visit any Bhaskar offices (as mention in the rules and regulation). help desk situated in your town or log on to www.bhaskarevents.com to acquire information regarding the nomination procedures.

7. How and when do I submit my awards application?

Last date for sending the application form is 23rd April 2010. Entries need to be posted to the respective State PO Box Number (mentioned in the rules and regulations).

8. Can I submit the entries at Bhaskar office?

No. Entries need to be posted to the respective State PO Box Number as mentioned in the rules and regulations governing these Awards. A participant can visit www.bhaskarevents.com for detailed rules and regulations.

9. Is mandatory to answer all the questions in the form?

Yes, it is mandatory to answer all the questions.

10. Can I apply in more than one category?

If you are eligible, you may apply for more than one category. However, you need to submit a different form for each Award category. You can use the Photocopies of the form available. However, please note that the Participation in multiple Award categories do not increase your chances of winning an Award

11. Where can I get help with my entry submission?

You may visit the Bhaskar office, between 10.00 am to 5.00 pm, and get your queries answered at the special help-desk set up for the Bhaskar Woman of the year Awards.
You may even send in your queries at bhaskarwotya@dbcorp.in and the Award representative will revert back.

12. Is there an entrance fees?

There is no entrance fees payable to participate in these Awards.

13. Who are the members of the jury panel?

The jury panel comprises of eminent personalities from different walks of life / various sections of society.

14. What are the judges looking for?

Judges are looking to recognize the the efforts of real woman who through their self belief and determination have made substantial difference / contribution to the people/society and inspired the lives of people around them. Accordingly, a participant is expected to translate her efforts/contribution in concise, relevant and accurate informative answers specific to the questions asked in the application form.


15. Can I get my entry submission back after judging?

All submissions are securely destroyed at the end of the program and therefore cannot be returned. For this reason, please ensure that you maintain a photocopy of your entry including any supporting documentation. Please do not attach any original documents.

16. Is it possible for two members of the same family can apply?

Yes. However, each application is considered as a separate entry and evaluated on its individual merits

17. Do I have to list reference?

Yes, it is advisable to provide atleast one references. On getting shortlisted judges may call upon atleast one of your mentioned reference for evaluating the merits of your claims. (a nominator cannot be a reference).

18. If I know someone who could be nominated for the Bhaskar Woman of the year, how can I nominate her?

If you wish to nominate someone, fill in the application form after taking consent of the entrant you are applying for. Please note that both Participant and Nominator are required to the sign the form at the space provided in the application form.

19. How will l know I come to know about the results?

All the finalists will be contacted by Dainik Bhaskar Group, as per the details provided by the Participant/Nominator in the application form. The results would be published in Bhaskar Publications and will be uploaded on the website www.bhaskarevents.com

20. If I am selected as a finalist, will I be competing at a state level?

Only the city category winners and Woman of the Year (city) will compete at the state level.

21. What do winners get?

The winner would be honored with the title of 'Bhaskar Woman of the Year Award 2010' for a particular city & state along with certificate and trophy.
